Training underlines partnership working

Stratford-on-Avon District Councillors have been finding out, during Rural Housing Week, how local communities can develop homes for local people, with help from Warwickshire Rural Housing Association.

WRHA Company Secretary, Richard Mugglestone and Development Officer, Neil Gilliver, made a presentation to District, Parish and Town Councillors last night during a member training session on rural housing in the Council Chamber.

The training focused on the importance of local communities themselves championing local need housing schemes, with the support of local councillors.

The pair were joined by Rural Housing Enabler, Sarah Brooke-Taylor; Chair of Great Alne Parish Council, Lynn Bowring and Martin Cowan from Stratford-on-Avon District Council, to outline the whole process of developing rural housing, starting with a housing needs survey right through to how local people can apply for the properties.

Richard explained: “It is vital that we work hand-in-hand with local communities to bring our much-needed affordable housing schemes to fruition.  The training event gave us an excellent chance to explain much more about how we operate to the Stratford councillors.

“Partnership working is key and I’m looking forward to working effectively together to develop new sites in the future.”
