Councillors visit Community-led development

Having been involved every step of the way, local councillors have given the thumbs up to Warwickshire Rural Housing Association’s new development in Long Compton.

Parish Councillor Janet Blackwell and Council Clerk, Elizabeth Gilkes, who have attended all the site meetings, along with Renata Mosz, District Housing Enabler from Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Sarah Brooke-Taylor, Rural Housing Enabler at Warwickshire Rural Community Council (WRCC), were invited to view the brand new homes which have been developed at Weston Court.

Five homes for affordable rent and four for local market sale have been completed, with a mix of houses and bungalows to meet local need.  All are being offered to people with a local connection to Long Compton and the adjoining parishes.

WRHA Development Officer, Neil Gilliver, said: “The Long Compton scheme has been truly community led from start to finish.

“The Parish Council has shaped the entire development and given its full support throughout the build.  It seemed fitting to invite the councillors to be the first to view the new homes which will make a big difference to their parishioners.”
