Councillors tour flagship development

Local councillors and partners have been given a special tour of Warwickshire’s first Passivhaus affordable housing development.

Warwickshire Rural Housing Association invited the key stakeholders to be the first to view the completed Keyte Gardens development in Wootton Wawen, which will be officially opened in September.

Mark Cargill, Deputy Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, joined members of Wootton Wawen Parish Council and representatives from Orbit and Stonewater, WRHA’s development agency partners, in visiting the 14 new affordable properties.

All have been designed and built to the rigorous Passivhaus standard to make them as energy efficient as possible to reduce their ecological footprint.  The build has involved meticulous attention to detail to meet the strict design and construction standards required to adhere to the Passivhaus standard.

Residents will benefit from space heating costs which are 70 per cent less than in standard house construction, which means much lower energy bills.
