Alcester clears up!

Residents in Alcester have helped to tidy up their community thanks to Warwickshire Rural Housing Association.

An annual Skip Clearance Day was held on 31st August when local people of all ages enjoyed having a Summer clear-out of their homes, gardens and local alleyways.

Housing & Income Team Leader, Philippa Osborne and Development Officer, Neil Gilliver, arranged for two huge builders’ skips to be placed at the end of Beacon Close and invited WRHA’s residents to get rid of any unwanted items – however big or small.  A collection service was also offered for residents with reduced mobility.

By the end of the day, both skips were full to capacity with old toys, furniture and general rubbish.

“The event was even busier than in previous years,” said Philippa.  “Families were clearing out lots of rubbish and were especially pleased to be able to get rid of bulky items.  As well as helping to improve the neighbourhood, the event created a real community spirit.”
