Anyone can find themselves at crisis point, and food is one of the biggest household expenses.

If you’re finding it hard to feed yourself or your family, local food banks, such as the Trussell Trust can help.

To get an emergency food parcel from a Trussell Trust food bank, you’ll need to be referred and get a voucher.

We can issue Trussell Trust food bank vouchers.

How the vouchers work

We'll make the referral

To get a voucher, we'll need to make a referral for you.

Please get in touch with your housing officer for a referral.

If your housing officer isn’t available, any of the housing team will be able to help you.

We'll need to complete an online referral form for you. It only takes a few minutes. We'll ask you a few basic questions to make sure the food you receive is suitable for you.

We'll check the best food bank location for you:

  • We will talk you through the options and decide with you which is the best location
  • If you’re unable to collect the food, because of reduced mobility or illness, some food banks can deliver. Please discuss this with your housing officer.
Issuing the e-voucher
The food bank website will then issue us with an e-voucher to send to you. We can:
  • send this to you by email
  • print and post it to you
  • print it and hand-deliver it to you, if we're in your area.
Get your food parcel
Once you've got your voucher, go along to the food bank and exchange it for an emergency food parcel.

Visiting a food bank might seem daunting, but you’ll get a warm welcome in a safe environment, a listening ear from trained volunteers, as well as your food parcel.

They will do their absolute best to give you the right food to meet your needs.

The food bank team will also help to support you in any other ways that they can.

Before you go
  • Check the opening times (which are included on the voucher).
  • Don't forget to take your voucher.
When you get there

Show the voucher (either printed or on your phone) to the food bank team and they will explain how it works.

Other food banks
If there isn’t a Trussell Trust foodbank near you, don't worry, we'll help you find the nearest independent foodbank.
