Homes in Claverdon for local people
The homes, four for social rent and six for shared ownership, will be prioritised for people with a connection to the village, enabling local people to stay in, or return to, Claverdon.
Spacious and low-carbon affordable homes
The homes will be built to national space standards, with energy-efficient air source heat pumps and solar panels with battery storage.
The air source heat pumps are eco-friendly, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and also provide lower cost heating, compared to traditional electric heating systems found in many off-gas rural homes. This will help to keep energy bills low for residents, which in times of significant energy cost increases, is more important than ever.

Low-energy homes
There will be ten affordable homes at Claverdon:
Four for social rent:
- Two 2-bed houses
- Two 2-bed bungalows
Six for shared ownership:
- Five 2-bed houses
- One 3-bed house
The homes are due to be ready in Autumn 2027.
Homes to rent: Local connection criteria and how to apply
To be eligible to apply for a rented home, you'll need to have a proven housing need.
Homes will be allocated based on local connection. Applications will be considered in the following order of priority, starting with people who have a connection to Claverdon.
1. First priority: Claverdon
You must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Born in Claverdon: You were born in the Parish of Claverdon, or your parent(s) were ordinarily resident in the parish when you were born.
- Currently live in Claverdon: You currently live in the Parish of Claverdon and have lived there continuously for at least the past six months.
- Previously lived in Claverdon: You previously lived in the Parish of Claverdon either:
- continuously for six months during the last 12 months;
- or for at least three years at any time during the past five years.
- Work in Claverdon: You currently work in the Parish of Claverdon and have done so for at least the past six months, for an average of at least 16 hours a week.
- Close family in Claverdon: Your mother, father, sister, brother or adult child currently lives in the Parish of Claverdon and has lived there continuously for at least three years.
- Another connection to Claverdon: You can demonstrate another connection to the Parish of Claverdon. Whether this connection qualifies will be decided solely by the District Council.
2. Second priority: neighbouring parishes
If the homes cannot be allocated to applicants who meet the Claverdon criteria above, people with a local connection to one or more of these neighbouring parishes will be considered:
- Langley
- Preston Bagot
- Wolverton
- Wootton Wawen
You must meet at least one of the following criteria in relation to one of these parishes:
- Born there: You were born in the parish, or your parent(s) were ordinarily resident there when you were born.
- Currently live there: You currently live in the parish and have lived there continuously for at least the past 12 months.
- Previously lived there: You previously lived in the parish continuously for at least three years at any time during the past five years.
- Work there: You currently work in the parish and have done so for at least the past 12 months, for an average of at least 16 hours a week.
- Family connection: You have a close family member living in the parish who has done so continuously for at least three years within the past five years. A close family member means a mother, father, son, daughter, brother or sister. The District Council may also agree that another relative, or a link to a particular family, qualifies as a close family connection in the circumstances of an individual case.
3. Third priority: elsewhere in Stratford-on-Avon District
If the homes cannot be allocated under the first or second priority, applicants will be considered if they meet one or more of the five criteria listed under the second priority, but their connection is to any other parish within Stratford-on-Avon District.

When the homes are built, they'll be advertised, and available to bid for on the Stratford-on-Avon District Council choice based letting system, Home Choice.

Homes for shared ownership: Local connection criteria and how to apply
To be eligible to purchase a shared ownership home, you'll need to have a local connection.
Shared ownership homes will be sold to local persons, on a first come, first served basis.
Applications will be considered in the following order of priority, starting with people who have a connection to Claverdon.
1. First priority: Claverdon
You must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Born in Claverdon: You were born in the Parish of Claverdon, or your parent(s) were ordinarily resident in the parish when you were born.
- Currently live in Claverdon: You currently live in the Parish of Claverdon and have lived there continuously for at least the past six months.
- Previously lived in Claverdon: You previously lived in the Parish of Claverdon either:
- continuously for six months during the last 12 months;
- or for at least three years at any time during the past five years.
