Shared ownership is designed to help people who cannot afford to buy a property on the open market. Lease restrictions apply when buying a shared ownership property in a rural area. These may include only being able to purchase up to 80% of the property and having a local connection to the village/area.

As a shared owner, you have a self-repairing lease. This means you are responsible for keeping the interior of the property and all fixtures and fittings in good repair and decorative order.
You can sell your share on the property at any time, providing the intended purchaser fulfils Warwickshire Rural Housing Association’s criteria. This is called Lease Assignment. You should contact the Association in writing to inform us that you are wishing to sell your shared ownership home.
We provide you with buildings insurance with Arthur J. Gallagher (AJG). Your monthly payments to us include a fair proportion towards the insurance costs of your property and the communal areas.
