Jan Williams, wowed judges with the innovative garden she has created at her home in Ivy Lane.
She scooped the top prize of £100 in the Great Garden Competition, which was launched by WRHA this summer to encourage tenants to show off their horticultural talents.
The runner-up was Jeanette King, from St Nicholas Close, in Alcester, who was presented with the £50 second prize.
Jan’s courtyard-style garden includes stone pathways, a paved patio featuring a sun design, colourful flower beds, herbs, vegetables, pot plants and a bird table.
She said: “I’m over the moon to win this competition. My garden isn’t very traditional but, to me, it is magical – my little Eden.
“When I moved into my bungalow, about five years ago, the garden was very neglected. I had never before had the chance to design a garden from scratch and my criteria was a place I could enjoy forever.
“As I already had arthritic knees and hips, I had to design an area that I could care for whatever my limitations.”
Competition judges looked at a range of criteria, including general layout, colour scheme, quality of plants, wildlife appeal, practicality and eco-friendly features.
WRHA Chairman Derrick Dyas said: “Jan’s garden was pleasing to the eye, had lots of colour and was innovative in terms of her approach.
“She raised her own seeds and experimented. There were some unusual plants and a good approach to ecology, including three water butts and various wildlife features.
“It was also designed to cater for her future needs, with easy access to all the plants and a lot of thought being put in to how the garden is maintained.”
Mr Dyas thanked all the residents who entered the competition, which is to become an annual event.
He added: “I would encourage more people to take part next year and not be shy about showing off their gardening talents. Their efforts are much appreciated by the association and make the estates a pleasure to walk around.”
