Keeping Villages Alive

If you are looking for a home in a Warwickshire village, you'll know that house prices are higher than ever.

For many local people that means moving away to find more affordable accommodation in the nearest town.

But if you want to stay close to your roots, your family or your job, Warwickshire Rural Housing may be able to help.

Since 1989 the Association has been working in rural communities to provide housing for local people.  We now own and manager in excess of 400 properties.

They include family houses, bungalows for older people and flats.  Most of the homes are let at affordable rents, but some are sold through part rent/part buy shared ownership.

Because every village is different, we always make sure we are fully aware of local needs when planning a new development.  By working closely with local communities we can design and position homes so that they meet the requirements of the village and complement existing buildings.

Full consultation and cooperation are essential if we are to have the trust and confidence of the communities we serve.

Our schemes are frequently built on ‘exception sites’ – land which would not normally receive planning consent.  The planning agreements we draw up with landowners and the local authority ensure that our homes are only let to people who can demonstrate that they have strong links with the area.

Most of our schemes are new-build, but we sometimes convert and rehabilitate existing buildings if this is the best way to meet local housing need.  New build schemes are always constructed to a high standard and designed to be as energy efficient as possible.
